FATOU MAPS IN Pn DYNAMICS

چکیده

We study the dynamics of a holomorphic self-map f of complex projective space of degree d > 1 by utilizing the notion of a Fatou map, introduced originally by Ueda (1997) and independently by the author (2000). A Fatou map is intuitively like an analytic subvariety on which the dynamics of f are a normal family (such as a local stable manifold of a hyperbolic periodic point). We show that global stable manifolds of hyperbolic fixed points are given by Fatou maps. We further show that they are necessarily Kobayashi hyperbolic and are always ramified by f (and therefore any hyperbolic periodic point attracts a point of the critical set of f ). We also show that Fatou components are hyperbolically embedded in Pn and that a Fatou component which is attracted to a taut subset of itself is necessarily taut.

The geometry of some natural conjugacies in ℂn dynamics

We show that under some simple conditions a topological conjugacy h between two holomorphic self-maps f1 and f2 of complexn-dimensional projective space Pn lifts canonically to a topological conjugacy H between the two corresponding polynomial self-maps of Cn+1, and this conjugacy relates the two Green functions of f1 and f2. These conjugacies are interesting because their geometry is not inher...

The Fatou Set for Critically Finite Maps

It is a classical result in complex dynamics of one variable that the Fatou set for a critically finite map on P consists of only basins of attraction for superattracting periodic points. In this paper we deal with critically finite maps on P. We show that the Fatou set for a critically finite map on P consists of only basins of attraction for superattracting periodic points. We also show that ...

Classification of Invariant Fatou Components for Dissipative Hénon Maps

Fatou components for rational functions in the Riemann sphere are very well understood and play an important role in our understanding of one-dimensional dynamics. In higher dimensions the situation is less well understood. In this work we give a classification of invariant Fatou components for moderately dissipative Hénon maps. Most of our methods apply in a much more general setting. In parti...

A Dichotomy for Fatou Components of Polynomial Skew Products

We consider polynomial maps of the form f(z,w) = (p(z), q(z,w)) that extend as holomorphic maps of CP. Mattias Jonsson introduces in “Dynamics of polynomial skew products on C2” [Math. Ann., 314(3): 403– 447, 1999] a notion of connectedness for such polynomial skew products that is analogous to connectivity for the Julia set of a polynomial map in one-variable. We prove the following dichotomy:...

Basic Dynamical Stability Results for P

We study stability questions for dynamics on Pn. To do so we use locally simply parameterized holomorphic families. We prove a weak version of the λ-lemma for dynamical systems on Pn. This takes the form of showing that the set of potential traces for a holomorphic motion that preserve the dynamics (i.e. the set of “Fatou sections”) is compact. We introduce the notion of a postcritically bounde...
